Mental Health America of the Palm Beaches (MHAPB) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1949 and dedicated to advancing mental health, wellness, recovery, and inclusion throughout Palm Beach County. We are part of a nationwide movement working to ensure that mental health is treated with the same importance as physical health—and that every person has the opportunity to thrive.

Our Approach

MHAPB operates using the Clubhouse International model, an evidence-based approach proven to support long-term recovery and social inclusion. Compared to those in other treatment models, Clubhouse Members are more likely to gain and sustain employment, report a higher quality of life, and experience fewer hospitalizations.

MHAPB is unique in that we are the only Clubhouse in Palm Beach County where people can come every single day, become part of a community, and learn skills. Our Fern Street Clubhouse in downtown West Palm Beach and Galdes Clubhouse in Belle Glade are both

grounded in the belief that healing happens in community, and that peer connection, purpose, and belonging are essential to mental wellness.

Peer support is central to everything we do. Peer Place is a flexible program available at our Fern Street location that combines art and wellness in a neuroinclusive, peer-led environment. The offerings available through Peer Place are led by people with lived experience, fostering trust, mutual understanding, and hope.

Through empowerment rather than clinical treatment, we help individuals reconnect with their goals, strengths, and sense of self.

At MHAPB, our mission is to create a supportive community where all people can flourish.

We have created places for people to find belonging and purpose. Where they are defined by their talents and skills, not by a mental health diagnosis. And where everyone gets encouragement and support to grow and build a fulfilling life.

Here is where you belong.
“Coming to the Fern Street Clubhouse has helped me with my mental health by keeping me out of my head. They are helping me prepare for the GED and develop job skills. I am excited for the future!” -Michelle, Fern Clubhouse Member
